These were the attributes that speaker Jessica Cox shared with us recently at PRIDE Industries – along with her inspiring personal story of overcoming physical disabilities and fears to achieve many firsts.
Born without arms, Jessica lives what she calls “a normal life” using her feet the way other people use their hands. While she may regard her life as “normal,” clearly her accomplishments are extraordinary. Jessica is the first certified pilot in aviation history to fly a plane using her feet – and the first person without arms to earn a black belt in the American Tae Kwon-Do Association. Her story was filled with messages of humor and inspiration. Key to her success was the elimination of two words from her vocabulary – “I can’t.”
It is a message for all of us – and especially powerful for the employees and supporters of PRIDE Industries, which has creating jobs for people with disabilities for over 40 years. Jessica has been featured in national media and on television and radio programs. You can learn more about her story and accomplishments at http://rightfooted.com/index.php/life/.
