As we wrap up 2010, we have much to celebrate and be thankful for at PRIDE Industries. We take this opportunity to share just a few of the year’s highlights with you, and to thank everyone who makes these successes a reality – our customers, employees, communities, partners and contributors.
New & Expanded Programs
The new PRIDE Industries Training Facility at Ft. Bliss, Texas offers hands-on, advanced training in various facilities maintenance trades to PRIDE employees working at this large military installation. In this open-architecture, building-within-a-building, PRIDE provides concentrated skills training which, in turn, provides opportunity for career and financial advancement. The center serves as a model upon which to base future training efforts.
PRIDE also established a new Recruitment and Training Program that combines soft-skills development, individualized coaching, hands-on specialized trades training, and disability awareness training for all staff. The program incorporates a career training technician and a career guidance coordinator to create career pathways, advocate for employees as they are ready to advance in their careers, and develop resources and relationships within the community.
Business Expansion Creates Jobs for People with Disabilities
This year, PRIDE added more than 10 million square feet of facilities’ services through several new contracts in our Integrated Facilities Services division. In a record 37 days, PRIDE started up a base-wide facilities support services contract for the tri-service military installation, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey. Working primarily at Fort Dix, this contract added more than 160 new jobs, including new opportunities for 23 service-disabled veterans. Contracts with the City of Roseville and County of Ventura have also expanded our reach throughout California.
Our Manufacturing & Logistics Services (MLS) division was especially honored this year when HP’s Global Parts Supply Chain division recognized PRIDE as the 2010 Service Supplier of the Year. This global award recognizes the supplier providing the greatest overall service in the key areas of cost, quality, supply, technology, and business alignment. The MLS division continues to expand, providing unique work and skills challenges for individuals with a wide range of abilities in electronics & medical device manufacturing, as well as supply chain, logistics and contract packaging and fulfillment.
Products with Impact
2010 saw the rollout of PRIDE Industries’ new product line, PRIDEClean™—an industrial-strength, environment and budget-friendly alternative for our private and public-sector custodial customers who wanted to go green efficiently, without sacrificing quality. Registered with the EPA’s Design for Environment (DfE) program, these products are not only better for the earth, they create jobs for people with disabilities in the packaging, labeling and distribution of the products. It’s easy to do something good for the earth, for your business, and for people with disabilities simultaneously!
Creating Opportunity for Others
Businesses and agencies contribute to PRIDE’s mission through your contracts and referrals. Individuals, companies and foundations can advance our mission by contributing directly to PRIDE Industries Foundation, a 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to expanding opportunities for people with disabilities or other obstacles to employment. A new endowment was established this year through the foundation: the Ethan Allen Herr Endowment Fund was created as a lasting legacy to Ethan Herr by the Herr family in honor of their son and brother, a longtime employee of PRIDE Industries.
