Financial Foundations for Foster Youth

Many teens take money for granted; it arrives from earned allowances or magically appears from Mom or Dad. Foster youth have an entirely different reality.

A recent article in the Sacramento Bee highlights an innovative program through which dozens of Sacramento region foster teens are earning money, opening their first savings accounts and gaining critical financial skills necessary when they emancipate from the system at age 18. One of the successes is a foster youth who successfully completed the program and a working internship at PRIDE Industries. He continues to access key resources like this program, demonstrating that while you cannot change the past, you can exert control over your future.  Read more here.
