2012: National Disability Employment Awareness Month at PRIDE

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, bringing the issue of employment for people with disabilities to the fore.

The theme of this year’s Office of Disability Employment (ODEP) disability employment campaign is “A Strong Workforce is an Inclusive Workforce: What Can YOU Do?” One out of five Americans has a disability. That means that people with disabilities represent that nation’s largest minority group. They should not, and cannot, be overlooked in business, if business is to be truly reflective of its customers.

For 46 years, PRIDE Industries has been creating jobs for people with disabilities. We join in advocating for, and celebrating the accomplishments of, individuals with disabilities in the workplace. We believe in, and support, a vision of full participation and inclusion where every person is recognized for his or her abilities.

Throughout the month, you will find stories of inspiration and success posted here. These represent just a few of our employees; there are many more. Together, with public, private and nonprofit partners, we make these successes possible; changing lives…one job at a time.
