“What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies.”
– Rudolph Giuliani
Kristina’s grandparents provided her with love, lessons in life, and smores. At 28, she fondly remembers the many camping trips, day picnics, and time spent with her grandparents, specifically with her grandfather who passed away in 2001.
Her grandfather and the campground visited by her family are what inspired her drawing. As a child, Kristina had the opportunity to spend time creating memories while enjoying the great outdoors. As an adult, those memories are nostalgic and sentimental. She warmly recalls her grandfather teaching her how to fish, to shoot, and how to cut down a Christmas tree from the mountains. Her favorite memories are barbecuing and making smores on an open campfire.
Now as a working adult, she finds it difficult to make time to go camping. Kristina is a Hand Packager at PRIDE Industries. Since 2010, she has been assisting on a variety of contract packaging projects.
